Job description

At AKA Leaf we are redefining the standard for medical cannabis through high-tech processing, premium product development, and exceptional patient care. As we expand our footprint in Utah, we are looking for a dedicated and compliant-driven Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead our pharmacy operations and ensure our patients receive the highest quality consultations and support.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and licensed Pharmacist to serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge for our Utah medical cannabis pharmacy. In this leadership role, you will oversee all daily dispensary operations, manage inventory compliance, and provide detailed patient consultations. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical expertise, a deep understanding of Utah’s medical cannabis regulations, and the leadership skills to drive operational excellence. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance: Act as the Pharmacist-in-Charge on record, ensuring the pharmacy operates in strict accordance with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and all state medical cannabis laws.

Patient Consultations: Conduct detailed consultations with patients and healthcare providers, reviewing medical histories, and recommending appropriate cannabis products, dosages, and delivery methods.

Inventory Management: Oversee the receiving, auditing, and dispensing of medical cannabis inventory. Ensure accurate tracking using state-mandated seed-to-sale software (e.g., Inventory Control Systems).

Team Leadership: Train, manage, and mentor pharmacy agents and retail staff on product knowledge, patient care standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Process Improvement: Leverage project management skills to optimize pharmacy workflows, implement new operational protocols, and manage facility improvements.

Quality Assurance: Ensure a safe, clean, and secure environment for both patients and staff, adhering to strict quality control standards.

Qualifications:

Licensure: Must hold a valid, active, and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of Utah.

Experience: Previous experience as a PIC or Pharmacy Manager is required. Experience in the medical cannabis industry is highly preferred.

Bonus Qualification: Active PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a major plus.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of the endocannabinoid system, cannabis therapeutics, and state regulations.

Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a comprehensive state and federal background check as required for cannabis industry licensing.
