Job description

Cancer care is complex and rapidly changing. Patients and caregivers face emotional, physical, and logistical challenges in the pursuit of high-quality care. The Navigation business unit leads initiatives that improve cancer care delivery for patients, caregivers, and health care professionals while mitigating the suffering caused by a cancer diagnosis. Oncology navigation supports timely, coordinated, and person-centered care and scientifically demonstrated to improve patient outcomes. Recent changes in reimbursement models have opened a pathway for the expansion of equitable, high quality, sustainable navigation. ACS has been a leader and supporter of navigation since it was conceptualized at the ACS 1989 Hearings on Cancer and the Poor. Given recent historic changes and the critical role of navigation in cancer care delivery, it is vital for ACS to continue to remain at the forefront of oncology navigation through care delivery, education, policy, and research.
As part of the Patient Support Pillar, this position directs initiatives to support the adoption and integration of navigation, including workforce development and training, leveraging program assets and capabilities of ACS to address barriers to high quality cancer care. This position applies knowledge and skills in planning, executing, and evaluating training curriculum and other key initiatives, in collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders. This position may lead or contribute to other navigation activities as part of ACS' comprehensive strategy, serving as one of the ACS leads for patient navigation efforts and as a resource to other ACS departments to ensure appropriate integration of activities. This position represents ACS externally through collaborative initiatives, and models and practices ACS' health equity principles in all work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • In collaboration with the VP, Navigation and other key stakeholders, serves as a subject matter expert to lead the design and execution of program activities, manages workflows, develops program resources, oversees daily operations and spending, and provides regular reports and updates to stakeholders. (35%)
  • Oversees data collection, develops data reports, leads program evaluation, identifies areas for program and process improvement, and supports ongoing dissemination of work through internal and external channels. (25%)
  • Builds and manages relationships with key partners, vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders to maximize program utilization, facilitating cross-department communication and collaboration. (20%)
  • Provides guidance, coordination, and oversight to ensure the team functions effectively and remains aligned with program goals. (20%)

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree with 8 years relevant experience acceptable

The starting rate is $100,000 to $105,000 annually. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
