We are seeking a motivated and intellectually curious Research Technician to join two highly collaborative laboratories focused on fundamental cancer biology and cell signaling research at the University of Vermont Cancer Center. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for an early-career scientist to gain broad, hands-on experience in modern cancer research while working closely with faculty, trainees, and research staff in a dynamic and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will participate in a wide range of molecular, cellular, and biochemical experiments aimed at understanding the mechanisms that regulate cancer cell behavior and the tumor microenvironment. Responsibilities will include mammalian cell culture, tumor spheroid assays, molecular and biochemical analyses, fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging, and quantitative image analysis. The technician will also contribute to experimental design, data analysis, protocol development, laboratory organization, and general research operations across two interacting research groups.
This role is ideal for candidates considering future graduate, medical, or research training, and provides substantial opportunities for scientific skill development, mentorship, and participation in cutting-edge cancer research. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in the biological or life sciences and experience with mammalian tissue culture, RT-qPCR, western blotting, fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging, and image analysis software such as ImageJ.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Education and experience equivalent to: Bachelor's degree in the biological/life sciences. Experience with mammalian tissue culture, tumor spheroids, RT-qPCR, western blot analysis, fluorescent microscopy, and live cell imaging. Image analysis including Image J coding for co-localization and fluorescence quantification. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, exercise sound judgment within established guidelines, and work effectively in a collaborative laboratory environment.
