What is a Camworks?

A CAMWorks job typically refers to a position that involves using CAMWorks, a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software integrated with SOLIDWORKS. Professionals in this role create toolpaths, generate CNC machining programs, and optimize manufacturing processes. They often work as CNC programmers, manufacturing engineers, or CAM specialists in industries like aerospace, automotive, and industrial manufacturing. Strong knowledge of machining processes, G-code, and CAD/CAM software is essential for success in this role.

What are the typical responsibilities of someone working in a Camworks programming role?

Professionals specializing in Camworks programming are responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs to manufacture precision parts based on engineering specifications. This involves translating CAD files into efficient tool paths, selecting appropriate machining strategies, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring quality control standards are met. They often collaborate closely with design engineers, machinists, and quality assurance teams to deliver projects on time and maintain high standards of accuracy. Additionally, staying updated on software updates and best practices is important to continually improve production processes. This role offers opportunities to expand into senior programming, technical leadership, or process engineering roles as you gain expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Camworks position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Camworks programmer or CNC machinist specializing in Camworks, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes, and CNC programming. Proficiency in using Camworks software, CAD/CAM tools, and experience with industry-standard CNC machines are essential, while certifications in CNC programming or CAD/CAM software are highly valued. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with engineers and machinists to optimize production workflows. Mastery of these skills ensures precise manufacturing, efficient operations, and high-quality output in a competitive industrial environment.

Job description

Job Summary

We’re looking for a solid CNC Setup Operator to join our team. You’ll be setting up and running Haas machining centers to make precision parts. If you’re good at setups, enjoy solving problems at the machine, and take pride in making quality parts, we’d love to talk to you.
What You’ll Do

  • Handle full CNC setups on Haas machines — tooling, workholding, fixturing, and loading programs
  • Run Haas vertical machining centers including multi-axis operations
  • Read blueprints and understand GD&T
  • Work with CAMWorks programs — load them, prove them out, and make adjustments as needed
  • Check your own parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks, etc.
  • Make offsets and minor edits to keep parts in tolerance
  • Troubleshoot issues that come up during setup or production
  • Keep your machines and workspace clean and organized
  • Work with our programmers and quality team to keep improving
What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of real experience setting up and operating Haas CNC machines
  • Comfortable with Haas controls
  • Strong blueprint reading skills
  • Good with precision measuring tools
  • Familiarity with CAMWorks (or similar CAM software) is a big plus
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-minded
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience on 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis Haas mills
  • Basic G-code editing skills
  • A continuous improvement / “make it better” mindset
  • Experience in high-mix job shops
What We Offer

  • Competitive pay: $[28–38]/hr depending on your experience
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • IRA with 3% Match
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Overtime when available
  • Clean shop with good equipment
