Familiarity with surveillance systems, two-way radios, and incident reporting software is commonly required. Strong observation, communication, and conflict de-escalation skills help officers respond effectively and build trust within the campus community. What are campus security officers?

Campus security officers are professionals responsible for maintaining the safety and security of students, staff, faculty, and visitors on a school or university campus. Their duties include patrolling campus grounds, responding to emergencies, enforcing campus policies, and providing assistance during incidents. They serve as a visible presence to deter crime, help in crisis situations, and often work closely with local law enforcement. Campus security officers also conduct safety education programs and may help with access control to campus buildings.
