Job Description / Essential Elements:

CAMPUS AIDE
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, to supervise children outside of classroom settings; and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Supervise children before the start of school and during the lunch period in the cafeteria, lunch benches, and on the playground.
Encourages and promotes courtesy among children; observes that safety rules are obeyed; may act as game leader in the playground area; reports special behavior problems.
Checks student areas for loitering, vandalism and/or infractions of school or district policies; patrols campus perimeter and parking lots.
Assists when necessary in the cafeteria.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience - Any combination equivalent to a basic education.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
Knowledge to: Understand and carry - out safety rules and regulations; knowledge of standards of courtesy to be observed by children; understands the basic principles of First Aid.
Ability to: Communicate orally in English and Spanish desirable; ability to relate well to children; ability to establish and maintain relationships with fellow employees.
