Job description

Position Title The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for providing the citizens and users of the City's park system with safe, properly maintained, and high quality facilities. The Department is responsible for developing and maintaining parks, trails, sports fields, campground, aquatic center, and cemeteries that meet the community needs. The Seasonal Park Technician participates in the seasonal maintenance program and is an important part of maintaining our parks & park facilities for the spring/summer seasons.

Essential Duties Care and maintenance of city parks, trails, sports fields, campground, aquatic center and cemeteries Assist with the repair, construction and maintenance of underground irrigation systems Empty trash in parks, trails and athletic fields Mow, trim, fertilize, spray and water all turf areas in parks and cemeteries Assist with planting and general care of trees, shrubs and annual flowers All other duties as assigned Summary of Qualification Requirements Must be reliable & have the ability to work with limited supervision Must be able to provide excellent customer service Must participate in safety training Must be 18 years old to apply & pass a drug screen prior to employment Additional Information This position requires the ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 50 lbs, operate a motor vehicle and work under all weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Responding to telephone and in person requests from citizens and employees as well as hearing audible alarm signals.

Viewing a computer screen, reading a variety of labels, documents and signage, and visually and audibly monitoring areas of use from a distance. Talking, expressing or exchanging verbally communication. Work is performed inside and/or outside and includes being exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, chemical hazards, atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system or skin, oils, may be required to wear a respirator, confined spaces, darkness or poor lighting conditions and isolation.
