Job description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Day Camp Coordinator to join our team!
The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As a Day Camp Coordinator, you will assist in the overall administration and operation of summer day camp program under the direct supervision of the Day Camp Director. If hired, you will assist with the supervision of day camp leadership, unit leaders and camp staff and provide weekly feedback and daily support, administer quick checks and day camp assessments, and help incorporate weekly themes into camp.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and implementing camp interviews, events, trainings, and meetings.
  • Coordinate ordering of summer supplies.
  • Incorporate weekly themes into camp and ensure curriculum and programming for assigned camps is submitted in advance and executed daily.
  • Provide resources and new programming ideas for camp program.
  • Ensure weekly calendars are submitted in advance to marketing director and available on the first day of the week.
  • Coordinate all parent communication and attend to all parent concerns ensuring appropriate communication and follow up.
  • Plan and conduct weekly camp staff meetings.
  • Facilitate camper check in/check out.
  • Create and monitor weekly staff schedules to maintain proper ratios.
  • Provide leadership, recognition, and mentoring to all camp staff.
  • Visit camp programs to maintain high quality operations including safety, fun and programming.
  • Provide support and advice related to working with children's behaviors and interests.
  • Complete staff and program evaluations.
  • Monitor weekly budget, make recommendations and adjustments accordingly

Qualifications:
  • Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Minimum one-year experience in summer day camp.
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with children and diverse populations.
  • Knowledge and skills in day camp program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age appropriate techniques.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

Wage: $20.06 to $20.46 per hour, (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)
Hours: Full-Time, Seasonal
Location: Haselwood Family YMCA, Silverdale, WA

โ€ข Staff are expected to adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE.
