We are welcoming: we are open to all. We are a place where you can belong and become. We are genuine: we value you and embrace your individuality. We are hopeful: we believe in you and your potential to become a catalyst in the world. We are nurturing: we support you in your journey to develop your full potential. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.

OUR SUMMER SCHEDULE:

Our summer schedule will be a little different this year. Staff training begins on July 6, 2026, with camp running July 12–24, 2026. Additional work opportunities beyond July 24 may be available and can be discussed during the interview.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Camp Maintenance Assistant assists in the maintenance and custodial of the Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp facility including all camp vehicles and equipment. The Maintenance Assistant must possess a basic knowledge of mechanical and custodial skills. The position requires the ability to operate a tractor, chainsaw, and various other power and hand tools.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for mature staff members to role model healthy living and the YMCA's four character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. We expect our staff to have a genuine liking for youth and a character that fits our camp values.

Camp is for people who love working with kids and roughing it in the outdoors. The ideal staff member enjoys hiking, camping, and cooking over a fire. They don't mind the insects or rodents and can survive without a shower everyday. Staff must feel comfortable working as a part of a team, have the desire to pitch in when needed and stay positive throughout these experiences. The staff must be able to uphold the standards and policies and be willing to live in an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free living environment. This will be a challenging and rewarding summer job experience!

The Camp Facilities and Site

Camp is a rustic living environment, with several modern conveniences. Most cabins sleep 8 people and have electric lights. While all cabins have windows and doors, small critters will likely visit from time to time. Showers and restrooms are centrally located in our main lodge with additional Showers and restrooms located in the Outdoor Environmental Education Building. Camp has a somewhat rugged and hilly terrain, with temperatures in the summer ranging from 40 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
