About this opportunity:

Under the direction of the Camp Maintenance Supervisor, maintenance workers assist in the maintenance and repair of the camp’s buildings, grounds, equipment and other facilities consistent with the mission and established policies and procedures of the camp. In the role you will help assist with camper luggage on opening and closing days and help maintain campgrounds by operating necessary ground care equipment, such as mowers, tractors, and chainsaws, safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities:

  • Disposes of trash and waste from camp facilities and campground daily.
  • Be aware and make necessary changes to hazards found on campgrounds.
  • Performs janitorial and general maintenance duties in buildings and areas designed.
  • Assists with the set-up, cleaning, and resetting of meeting areas and rooms throughout the day as needed. 
  • Supportandparticipates enthusiastically as a team member in overall camp programming, special events, and evening activities, and other all-camp activities and camp functions as a part of a collaborative staff team.
  • Model Christian values and integrate faith into daily interactions,camper programs,and camp life. 
  • Must be at least16years old and a high school graduateor GEDpreferred. 

  • A heart for others and a mind towards Christ. 

  • Shouldbe self-motivated and teachable. 

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 

  • CPR & First Aid certified or capable of passing by June 15, 2026 (training provided by Camp Hoblitzelle during staff training if needed.) 

  • A willingness toabide by The Salvation Army doctrinal statementandCampHoblitzelle’spolicies. 

  • Must be able to pass a state and federal background check. 

Additional Information: 

  • Camp Staff Training will be heldJune 8 – June 14, 2026,and participation isrequired. The 2026 summer Camp program sessions will be heldJune 15 - July 26, 2026.If you are unable to work the entire season, please let us know on your application.
