Job description

Position Overview

Serve as a key leadership team member (the "Mayor") to serve our staff community (250 people). This role focuses on creating and maintaining a clean, safe, fun, and supportive living environment for all seasonal staff housing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive staff culture and build connections with excellent service and support in housing and living needs
  • Maintain staff housing assignments through Microsoft Teams and/or Excel
  • Plan and assist with staff camp setup, takedown, social events, and serve on the employee wellness team
  • Ensure daily mail collection, sorting, and delivery are completed quickly and accurately (including drop offs)
  • Conduct daily checks and cleanings for bathhouses, laundry rooms, tenting area, and common areas.
  • Address staff concerns, complaints, or conflicts promptly while maintaining confidentiality
  • Uphold staff housing expectations from the handbook and conduct housings checks
  • Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
  • Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
  • Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 21+
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and able to obtain a Summit Driving Permit
  • Prior experience in residence life, camp housing, or staff leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication

Physical & Practical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 6 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
  • Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
