Role Overview: Corporate Security Systems Engineer
Richmond, VA | In office, Monday-Friday
CoStar Group is seeking a driven, hands-on Corporate Security Systems Engineer to support the deployment, project execution, and operation of enterprise-wide physical security systems in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role requires a self-starter who can execute in the field, manage security system installations within active construction projects, solve problems quickly, and partner effectively across teams to deliver reliable, high performing security solutions on schedule and to standard.
Responsibilities
Systems Installation & Technical Execution
  • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise security systems, including:
    • Genetec access control and video management platforms
    • IP camera systems
    • HID readers, access control panels, enclosures, and Mercury boards
    • GSOC technologies, including video wall (VuWall) systems
  • Execute low-voltage wiring, device installation, system commissioning, and validation across multiple sites
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues quickly; escalate when appropriate while maintaining ownership through resolution

Construction & Project Management Support
  • Support security system deployments within new construction, renovations, and tenant improvement projects
  • Manage discrete security installation projects, from pre-deployment planning through installation, testing, and closeout
  • Review and interpret floor plans, CAD drawings, security drawings, and construction documents to ensure accurate scope execution
  • Coordinate installation sequencing with construction schedules, ensuring work aligns with site readiness and reduces rework
  • Track tasks, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables related to access control and video system installations
  • Identify and communicate project risks, site constraints, and design conflicts early to internal teams and integrators

Cross-Functional & Vendor Coordination
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders including IT, Facilities, Construction, and Corporate Security to deliver projects on time and to standard
  • Serve as a technical and project point-of-contact for access control and video installations during construction
  • Coordinate with integrators, electricians, cabling contractors, and external vendors to ensure consistent execution, quality, and compliance with standards
  • Perform on-site oversight, quality checks, punch walks, and system acceptance testing

Documentation & Support
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of system designs, configurations, as-built conditions, and work performed
  • Provide responsive, high-quality support and technical guidance to internal customers and project teams

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college or university, or equivalent/relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • 6+ years of experience supporting physical security systems, low-voltage installations, or access control projects
  • Experience supporting or coordinating security system installations within construction or renovation environments
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Low-voltage cabling and terminations
    • Camera installation and configuration
    • Access control hardware including HID readers, panels, enclosures, and Mercury boards
    • GSOC environments and video wall technologies (VuWall preferred)
  • Ability to read and apply floor plans, CAD drawings, and construction documents
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to think quickly in dynamic field conditions
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
  • Highly motivated with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing or leading small to mid-sized security installation projects
  • Exposure to construction coordination, site logistics, and contractor oversight
  • Industry certifications (Genetec, Lenel, S2, or low-voltage licensing)
  • Genetec certification
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience supporting multi-site or enterprise environments
  • Foundational understanding of networking as it relates to physical security systems

Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 35% in support of installations, construction projects, and operational needs
  • Candidates must possess a current and valid driver's license.
  • Satisfactory completion of a Driving Record/Driving Abstract check prior to start. Driving history must reflect responsible driving behavior and compliance with traffic laws.
