JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled CAM Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for precision machining. The ideal candidate will translate engineering drawings and CAD models into efficient machining instructions, ensuring high-quality production while minimizing cycle time and material waste.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Create and modify CNC programs using CAM software for milling, turning, and multi-axis machines
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining requirements
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies
  • Simulate and verify toolpaths to prevent collisions and ensure accuracy
  • Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production teams to improve manufacturability
  • Optimize programs for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and revise programs as needed
  • Maintain documentation for programs, tooling setups, and processes
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a CAM Programmer or CNC Programmer
  • Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Fusion 360, Mastercam, PowerMill, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes (milling, turning, multi-axis)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and machining techniques

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 5+ Experience with 4-axis or 5-axis machining
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Experience in high-precision or high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Shop floor and office environment 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
