Job description

Student Assistant Position

The Student Assistant (SA) position is restricted to students who are enrolled in a college or university, the curriculum subject matter of which will prepare the student to assist in attaining the objectives of the Department of Developmental Services. It is the SA's responsibility to continue enrollment in a college program. This position is intended to provide a means of part-time or temporary employment whereby students may receive instruction and perform work that will offer practical experience, in work tasks related to their field of study and develop familiarity with the laws and programs administered by the State of California.

Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, a formally incarcerated youth, or a victim of human trafficking as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. If you are applying under this eligibility status, please note on your application your eligibility by stating "preference under Government Code section 18220." Please note that prior to appointment, individuals claiming preference under one of these categories will be required to furnish documentation establishing their eligibility. This position is not eligible for telework, this position is in person only.

Pursuant to California Government Code requirements, candidates must be residents of the State of California at the time of appointment.

This position requires lawful authorization to work in the United States. The Department does not sponsor employment visas for this position.
