Machine Operator – Contract-to-Hire
Location: Frankfort, IL

Available Shift & Pay:
Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
$17/hr – $18/hr, based on experience

Position Overview:
Kelly Services is currently seeking a skilled Machine Operator for a contract-to-hire role with our client in Frankfort, IL. If you have prior machine operation experience and are looking to grow your career in a stable, supportive environment, we want to hear from you! Qualified candidates will have the chance to be hired directly after 3-6 months, depending on performance and attendance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing/changing chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers
  • Load feed mechanism by positioning stock
  • Verify machine settings and measure first-run and sample parts for accuracy
  • Maintain production specifications for drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and reprogram controls as needed; replace and sharpen worn tools
  • Ensure safe machine operations and adhere to company safety standards
  • Document production, quality checks, and maintenance performed
  • Operate CNC machines: set up, run, and ensure standards are met
  • Maintain a pace consistent with fellow team members and support shift transitions

Requirements:
  • Previous machine operation experience required
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions
  • Must be able to lift up to 3 pounds repetitively and up to 55 pounds monthly
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures (hot, humid, cold)
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Visual quality inspection skills
  • Experience with power tools and industrial equipment preferred
