Responsibilities
MV Transportation is seeking a Window Dispatcher who will be responsible for providing dispatch support by ensuring operators are effectively on time from leaving the yard, paperwork is correct, and attendance is tracked properly. This position will support managers and staff through a variety of tasks related to our transportation services.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Manage Extra Board (EB) operators - ensure that all open work is being distributed amongst the EB operators fairly and in accordance with the CBA.
  • Assign buses by ensuring that the proper bus is being assigned to correct run.
  • Update dispatch logs - ensure that paperwork is completely up to date with bus assignments, absence coding, call-out comments and operator names.
  • Update dispatch computer - ensure that all coding in the computer is correct and up to date for timekeeping purposes.
  • Answer the dispatch phone and correctly record info onto the daily dispatch log regarding call offs and attendance coding.
  • Collects all paperwork turned in by operators and ensures that it is sent to the correct department.
  • Tracks all shuttle cars coming in and leaving the yard, collect DVIR sheets.
  • Ensure that all lost and found items are collected and correctly tagged and logged by the operators.
  • Works directly with the radio operator regarding fill buses, swap buses, operator reliefs and mechanical breakdowns.
  • Manage overtime operators - ensure that overtime operators are utilized and tracked according to the needs of the service.
  • Understands that he/she must remain professional and friendly at all times.
  • Checks the operator in/out - operators report directly to the dispatch window at the start and end of each shift.
  • Dispatcher ensures that operators are being paid from start to finish of each assignment accurately and all documentation is signed off properly by operations staff.
  • Ensure that all light duty personnel are taken to their assigned locations.
  • Fills open runs - ensures that all last-minute open runs (due to Susp, LOA, BRE, VAC or termination) are filled in a timely manner, either with an EB operator or an OT operator.
  • Assist the Operations Manager by ensuring that all operators who are on the "See Ops" list are sent to the Operations Manager at the start or end of the operators shifts.
  • Uniforms - ensure that all operators reporting for duty are in proper uniform attire.
  • Assist with employee functions.
  • Additional assignments as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma.
  • Minimum two (2) years administrative management or equivalent.
  • Ideal candidates will have one to two years of dispatch experience.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and enter data.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate a business telephone in a professional manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on all levels.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows based computer operations systems.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to comprehend policies and procedures.

Starting pay rate: $19.25/hour
