Overview
PACE Supply, a leading distributor of plumbing, hydronics, and water treatment solutions, is looking for a skilled and driven Commercial Estimator (Hydronics) to join our team at our Santa Ana Branch. If you're detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about contributing to high-impact commercial projects, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
In this role, you will play a critical part in driving project success by:
  • Preparing accurate, competitive bids for commercial hydronics projects
  • Analyzing project drawings and specifications to determine material and labor requirements
  • Partnering closely with Sales to align estimates with customer needs and project goals
  • Sourcing and negotiating with vendors to secure optimal pricing and availability
  • Staying current on hydronics products, pricing trends, and market conditions

Responsibilities
Estimating Projects:
  • Provide quotes and cost estimates for projects.
  • Assist in gathering, calculating, and compiling data for bid proposal estimates.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and enter data into the estimating system.
  • Participate in developing project updates and bid package estimate documents.
  • Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating figures.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Senior Estimator.

Vendor Interactions:
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes.
  • Review quotes with immediate supervisor for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors.

Customer Interactions:
  • Communicate with customers to understand project requirements.
  • Provide timely and accurate estimates to customers.
  • Address any customer inquiries or concerns regarding estimates.

Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates and project details.
  • Assist in monitoring preliminary estimates against actual cost data.
  • Generate reports as needed for management or customers.
  • Update pricing information and databases regularly.

Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Inside Sales team to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate project requirements.
  • Assist in developing strategies to improve estimating processes and efficiency.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience:
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • High school diploma or equivalent credential required.
  • 2 years of office administration experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • 2 years experience with commercial hydronic products is required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks efficiently.
  • Strong focus on accuracy in data entry and document management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to work closely with team members and other departments.

Ideal Work Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or plumbing industry.
  • Familiarity with estimating practices and procedures.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of plumbing and finish materials and their applications.
  • Strong computer skills, with experience in construction-related software being a plus.
