Job description

JOB PURPOSE
Perform maintenance and repair activities for electrification lab equipment and facility infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of PV and electrification test environments. This position supports both labs testing operations and building maintenance, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and system improvements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Lab Equipment & Test Support
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of lab equipment, test systems, and fixtures
Support setup, modification, and operation of test benches, dynamometers, and electrification systems
Build, modify, and maintain test harnesses, loads, and test fixtures
Diagnose equipment issues using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
Inspect and repair electrical and mechanical assemblies
Calibration & Specialized Activities
Perform thermal chamber calibration and verification
Maintain calibration records and ensure compliance with lab standards
Support additional validation and maintenance tasks as directed by supervisor
Facility & Building Maintenance
Perform building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general repairs
Execute preventative maintenance on facility systems
Support grounds maintenance, snow removal, and minor construction projects
Troubleshoot facility-related issues impacting lab operations
Preventative Maintenance & Documentation
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on lab and facility equipment
Maintain maintenance, calibration, and work order records
Ensure high equipment uptime and reliability
Safety & Compliance
Support client safety and security programs
Follow electrical and lab safety requirements
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment
General Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with engineering teams, facilities, and leadership
Work independently or as part of a team
Support on-call rotation as required
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
REQUIRED EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Preferred: Two-year technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities Maintenance, or related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or technical support. Experience with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems required. Lab or test equipment experience preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
Experience with diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes)
Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Basic computer skills for documentation and tracking
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Valid driver's license
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience with electrification systems (motors, inverters, batteries)
Experience with calibration equipment (thermal chambers, power analyzers)
Background in mechatronics, automation, or robotics
Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Combination of laboratory, shop, and facility environments. Physical activity including lifting and standing required. Occasional off-shift or on-call work may be required.
Notes:
1st shift - 7:30 AM - 4:00. OT hours may be required.
Metatarsal safety boots required on their first day.
