ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Under the general supervision, the Student Assistant D is responsible for assisting various tasks including the oversight or delegation of responsibilities within the dining services operation such as inventory, customer service, food preparation, and food safety and sanitation procedures.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
Performs a variety of tasks, data entry functions, and other assignments may vary by location based on requirements and business needs.
  • Typical duties may include, general office, tutoring, washing dishes, waiting tables, cashier, custodial, ground work, and stocking.
  • Provide a good balance of technical and people skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Prepare documents/materials as necessary.
  • Possess the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, handle confidential materials appropriately, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Must be able to communicate regularly with direct supervisor all work status updates as well as task completions.

  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adheres to a regular work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current CPP Student
  • 15 or more months of job-related experience; previous food service experience
  • Must have food safety certification
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Satisfactory completion of training program(s) and ability to show competencies.
  • Understands all aspects of the job and responsibilities.
  • Ability to set the example, understand policies, procedures and guidelines.

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
