Job Summary
The Food Service Aide plays an essential role in ensuring that every Fortune scholar receives safe, nutritious, and appealing meals each day.
Working under the direction of the Food Service Coordinator, the Aide assists in food preparation and serving, ensures proper storage of food and supplies, and maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service.
(This is a Rover position-you may be required to commute between various Fortune School sites as part of your regular duties.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks following established schedules and portion guidelines.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, serving, and storage areas.
  • Follow sanitation and food safety standards for preparing, handling, and storing food.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing deliveries; verify inventory levels and rotate stock as needed.
  • Support the setup and cleanup of serving lines, utensils, and eating areas.
  • Provide friendly, courteous service to students and staff at all times.
  • Adhere to all Fortune School policies, procedures, and health department regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Of
  • Standard kitchen equipment, utensils, and measurements.
  • Sanitation and safety practices related to food preparation and service.
  • Proper lifting and storage techniques for perishable foods.
