Job description

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities of an assigned work team on a shift basis by directing assigned associates in the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of customer product in a manner consistent with service and cost objectives. The Warehouse Lead for Café Valley will work with Warehouse Manager to determine needs for the department and resolve discrepancies/issues.  The Warehouse Lead will also manually move freight, stock, or other materials or perform other general labor as necessary.
The ideal candidate must have the skills listed below:

The Warehouse Supervisor position is for 3rd shift. This will be a continental schedule 3-2-2.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Consistent and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible schedules as business needs demand.
  • Will need to be able to work around food allergens: milk, soy, eggs, and tree nuts.
  • Must be able to work within a team environment, treat all with respect – no fighting.
  • Must have the ability to stand a minimum of 6 hours without a break and a maximum of 12 hours with a break. There are NO sitting positions or jobs.
  • Must be able to wear/utilize personal protective equipment.
  • Enforce food safety, GMPs, and company policy with team members assigned to their line.
  • Perform detailed cycle counts researching all variances; identify exceptions and drops. Interact with warehouse manager to resolve discrepancies/issues.
  • Control movements from the warehouse to the production floor so that inventory standards are met and exceeded.
  • Delegate the distribution of work orders for the warehouse.
  • Ensure accurate and timely unloading of raw materials and packaging/inbound materials based on purchase order information. This includes appropriate put-a-way, documentation of any damages or incorrect items, etc.
  • Ensure accurate and timely loading of all finished goods/outbound materials. This includes ensuring FIFO is followed, accurate counts, no damages, etc.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts in all warehouses.
  • Accurately attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Attach slings, hooks, or other devices to lift cargo and guide loads.
  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
  • Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts or passenger vehicles.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Supervise dock personnel in the daily routine of loading/unloading of trucks with adherence to all required dock safety procedures.
  • Prepare work orders for and coordinate repairs of trucks, trailers, forklifts, dock plates, and dock doors.
  • Coordinate the delivery of customer orders efficiently, accurately and timely.
  • Keep upper management informed of concerns or situations that may affect the performance of shipping department.
  • Provides leadership and coaching to ensure that projects are completed on time and that the team provides value to our customers, both internal and external.
  • Conduct consistent Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel.
  • Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
  • Develop strong rapport with various freight lines.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, safety program, and good housekeeping.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party freight providers to schedule runs in the most cost-efficient and timesaving manner possible.
  • Ability to administer and document personnel issues for temporary and full-time regular employees both effectively and accurately.
  • Enforce progressive discipline when applicable and conduct meetings with any violating employees.
  • Implement department SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and ensure employees are properly trained in accordance to required guidelines.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned or as our customers’ needs change.
Required SkillsQualifications required:
HS Diploma, Associates Degree Preferred
3+ years supervisory or Warehouse experience or a minimum 5 years of Warehouse/Shipping/Receiving experience.
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to pass and receive Forklift License with Café Valley.
Adequate computer/data entry knowledge
Qualifications desired:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Implementing, teaching and training inventory process
  • Working knowledge of GMP’s
Physical demands and work environment:
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to climb, balance, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use hands to finger, grasp, or feel objects, talk or communicate, hear, visually inspect areas to be cleaned, and repetitive motions substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands and/or fingers.
Work environment: Medium work exerting up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
