Job Description
The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring temporary/on-call Baristas at Café J and Ivan's Cafe within the campus Hospitality department. The UOES division leads the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, research initiatives, athletics, alumni, and annual campus celebrations.
Located in the heart of campus, Café J offers a vibrant and fast-paced environment where football fans, students, faculty, staff and visitors all come together over great coffee and fresh food. Ivan's Cafe is located in the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art and offers an upscale cafe experience. Whether you're looking to gain valuable customer service experience or be part of a close-knit campus community, this is a great opportunity to work in a fun and supportive setting.
Barista
The Barista prepares and serves high-quality coffee and tea beverages to guests, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to brand standards. This is a guest-facing role that involves delivering excellent service to University guests and campus personnel in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet and anticipate the needs of guests, providing excellent service
  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages according to brand standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work area, including dining and prep spaces
  • Stock and replenish supplies in service and prep areas
  • Process guest checks, handle payments, and follow accounting procedures
  • Assist with cleaning, table arrangement, and trash removal
  • Perform side work and support coworkers to ensure a seamless operation

Qualifications
  • Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision
  • Positive and respectful attitude
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours at a time)
  • Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $17.50/hr + tips
