Job description

A Café Manager supports Tatte's mission to inspire, care for and nurture life, every day, by contributing to the café management team in welcoming guests to Tatte, caring for our team members, and executing café operations to Tatte standards. Café Managers are typically supervisors who are interested in developing their leadership skills and working towards becoming an Assistant General Manager. Given this, a Café Manager's primary responsibilities are to plan and/or execute the proper deployment of team members during shifts and ensure the delivery of an excellent guest experience. To do this, the Café Manager will work side by side with team members, leading and inspiring them to exceed our guest's expectations at every opportunity by providing exceptional service that is authentic, genuine, warm and welcoming while upholding the execution of Tatte service and product standards.
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Models authentic, warm guest experience and coaches the overall hospitality experience.
  • Brings our Brand Purpose, Mission and Values to life and adheres to all Tatte policies.
  • In partnership with the café management team, continuously upholds Tatte operational standards regarding service, product knowledge, safety and sanitation through execution of company training systems and standard operating procedures.
  • Leads team through shifts, overseeing deployment of team members and execution of Running Great Shifts, providing clear, specific and timely feedback to team members on shift to ensure operational excellence.
  • Ensures that all Tatte products (beverage, bakery & savory) adhere to recipe and visual standards and communicate any quality issues to the appropriate teams.
  • Displays skill in leading and navigating hard conversations with team members and guests
  • Assists with new team member training, by following company training plan(s) and gives positive feedback to recognize the team member's effort and achievements and constructive, respectful feedback to help the team member grow and develop.
  • Ensures food safety in the café and has a deep knowledge of all Tatte products, including ingredients and allergen information, and supports team members on shift regarding food safety and product knowledge.
  • Follows all administrative procedures, including but not limited to all procedures related to cash handling/management, product ordering/receiving, time clock verification, and safety and sanitation audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions / Essential Functions
  • Ability and desire to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which will include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to work up to ten hour-plus shifts at least 4 shifts per week.
  • Able to stand, sit, squat or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Able to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume to keep the café operating to standard and to set a positive example for the café team.

Position Requirements
  • At least 6 months of supervisory experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with all guests and team members
  • Knowledge and understanding of how the cafe operates and how each position and station need to be set up.
  • Capable of working in a team setting
  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Previous experience working with UltiPro Onboarding & Recruiting, Toast - POS System, CrunchTimeand Teamworx (highly preferred)
  • ServSafe, Allergen and ChokeSaver Certifications
