Job description

Café Manager @ Brownsburg High School

Leadership Looks Different Here

The Nutrition Services department's mission is to support our school communities by providing quality, nourishing meals in a safe and caring environment. Our continuous efforts to fulfill our purpose and support student success drive our department's work daily.

Bring your foodservice, hospitality, and operations leadership experience to our department’s largest and most dynamic location, Brownsburg High School. This is a high-volume, collaborative leadership opportunity where your creativity, ability to develop teams, and problem-solving skills can make an immediate and visible impact on our students.

  • Collaborative leadership approach with a highly visible presence
    • 30+ team members
  • Menus prioritizing fresh, quality ingredients
  • Ever-growing collection of scratch-made menu items
  • Multi-site operation including two cafés with full kitchens, grab-and-go market, coffee shop, and mobile ordering
  • High-volume meal production and service
    • 2,500+ meals served daily

Bring People and Operations Together

Own the day-to-day operation. Keep a high-volume café running smoothly through strong systems, clear expectations, thoughtful planning, and a well-supported team.

  • Team leadership, scheduling, training, and accountability
  • Customer service and student experience
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Operational standards, procedures, and consistency
  • Daily café operations and service execution
  • High-volume food production and workflow
  • USDA’s National School Lunch and Breakfast program implementation
  • Inventory, ordering, forecasting, and resource management
  • Food quality, safety, and sanitation

Move the Café Forward

As one of the most visible leaders within the Nutrition Services department, you’ll lead today’s operation while helping shape what comes next — strengthening the team, improving systems, advancing scratch cooking, and continually elevating the student experience.

  • Build relationships with students, staff, and administrators
  • Collaborate closely with department leaders
  • Lead, develop, and support a large team
  • Identify challenges and create thoughtful solutions
  • Make confident decisions in a fast-moving environment
  • Balance daily execution with planning for what's next
  • Contribute to department-wide operational improvements
  • Help advance our growing scratch-cooking program

You Know How to Run a Busy Operation

We're looking for an experienced leader who naturally thinks about people, flow, quality, efficiency, and what could work better.

Our strongest candidates will bring:

  • High-volume and multi-site foodservice operations experience
  • Collaborative leadership approach with a continuous-improvement mindset
  • Proven team leadership and development
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong operational and organizational skills
  • Confident decision-making and problem-solving
  • Commitment to quality, consistency, and food safety
  • Production, inventory, scheduling, and workflow experience
  • Knowledge of scratch cooking and high-volume food production
  • Knowledge of school meals programs regulations and meal pattern requirements

*Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, have a valid driver's license, and transportation.

Bring the Experience - We'll Give You a Different Kind of Schedule

Love foodservice and operations, but not the traditional schedule? Keep the pace, leadership, and challenge of the industry - with a schedule built around the school year.

  • Daytime schedule, no nights or weekends (8 hours/day)
  • School breaks and summers off (190 paid days)
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Training and professional development
  • Opportunities for continued growth

Ready to Lead Something Different?

Bring your experience to a leadership opportunity where you can make an immediate, visible impact and support student success - without giving up your nights, weekends, and summers.
