What is a Caesar?

A Caesar was the title used by Roman emperors, originally deriving from the family name of Julius Caesar. Over time, it became synonymous with the ruler of the Roman Empire and was adopted by subsequent leaders to signify supreme authority. The title carried immense political, military, and cultural power, shaping the structure of Roman governance and influencing leadership titles in later empires. The legacy of the title 'Caesar' can be seen in words like 'Kaiser' in Germany and 'Tsar' in Russia.
