Job description

Job Description:

We have multiple openings for technicians to support the exterior cabling work for a large data center project in Sandston, VA. These positions are highly hands‑on and involve physical labor outdoors, including digging, pulling cable through conduits and underground pathways, and routing cabling into the facility. We are hiring both entry-level and mid-level candidates who enjoy working outside, don’t mind getting dirty, and have experience with physical or construction-related work.

What You’ll Do:

You will support experienced technicians and leads in building the exterior infrastructure that feeds into the data center.

  • Dig, trench, and prepare pathways for underground cable installation.
  • Pull low-voltage cabling through duct banks, conduits, manholes, and entry points leading into the data center.
  • Assist with installing handholes, conduits, and pathway systems used to route cabling around the site.
  • Load, move, and stage materials and equipment across the construction site.
  • Help with labeling, routing, and securing cable as it transitions from outdoor pathways into the building.
  • Follow site drawings and instructions to ensure work is completed accurately and safely.
  • Complete required documentation such as timesheets, material tracking, and work orders.
  • Follow strict safety standards, especially when working outdoors, around heavy equipment, and in active construction areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.

Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, mud, etc.).
  • Prior experience in construction, landscaping, farming, maintenance, or other physical labor is a strong plus.
  • Able to use basic hand and power tools.
  • Willing to perform physically demanding tasks including digging, lifting, pulling, and working on uneven ground.
  • Able to follow instructions, site maps, and safety procedures.
  • Must be comfortable wearing required PPE (steel-toe boots, vest, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves).

Employee Value:

This is a strong opportunity for individuals with a hands-on or labor-intensive experience who want to enter the data center and telecommunications infrastructure field. No previous cabling experience is required for entry-level rolesβ€”technical skills can be learned on the job.

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily outdoors around the data center campus.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and active construction activity.
  • Must be able to handle physical demands, including working on your feet for long periods, lifting heavy materials, and working in trenches or confined outdoor spaces.
