What is cabinet assembly?

Cabinet assembly is the process of putting together the individual parts of cabinets, such as panels, doors, drawers, and shelves, to create a finished product. This job involves reading blueprints or instructions, using hand and power tools, and ensuring all components fit and function properly. Cabinet assemblers work with various materials like wood, metal, or laminate and may also install hardware such as hinges and handles. Attention to detail and the ability to follow technical drawings are important skills for this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a cabinet assembler, and why are they important?

To excel as a Cabinet Assembler, you need manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of woodworking techniques, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand and power tools, blueprint reading, and sometimes experience with CNC machinery are important technical qualifications. Teamwork, problem-solving, and time management are crucial soft skills for maintaining productivity and quality. These skills ensure precise assembly, efficient workflow, and high-quality finished products in a manufacturing environment.

What are some common challenges faced in a cabinet assembly role, and how can they be addressed?

A common challenge in cabinet assembly is ensuring precision and consistency while working with various materials and hardware. Misalignments, incorrect measurements, or missing components can slow down production and affect quality. Effective communication with team members, following detailed schematics, and double-checking measurements help minimize errors. Cabinet IQ of Charlotte

Charlotte, NC โ€ข On-site

$23/hr

Full-time

Posted 29 days ago

Job description

Location: Matthews, NC (with regular runs to Raleigh & Greensboro)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $23.00 per hour DOE
About Us
Cabinet IQ Charlotte designs, supplies, and installs kitchen and bath cabinetry for homeowners, builders, and remodelers across the Charlotte region. We're a growing team that takes pride in quality work. We need someone who can build cabinets in our warehouse AND get them where they need to go — safely, on time, and without damage.
What You'll Do
This is a hands-on role that splits between cabinet assembly in our warehouse and driving our 20' box truck. No two days look exactly the same, but here's what the work involves:
Warehouse

  • Assemble RTA cabinetry per manufacturer specs — accurately, cleanly, and without damage
  • Organize and stage product for upcoming deliveries and installs
  • Verify orders against cut lists and manifests before anything leaves the building
  • Experience with basic carpentry and power tools is a must
Driving & Delivery

  • Drive our box truck to suppliers in Raleigh, Greensboro, and the Charlotte area to pick up cabinetry and materials
  • Load and secure the truck for customer deliveries
  • Deliver cabinets to job sites and customer homes throughout the Charlotte metro
  • Unload product by hand with care; these are finished cabinets. Damage will not be allowed.
  • Communicate delivery status, delays, or site issues to the operations team
  • Perform basic pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and flag maintenance needs
Who This Is For

  • Someone who works well with their hands and takes pride in building things right
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs repeatedly throughout the day
  • Experience driving a box truck or similar vehicle preferred
  • Detail-oriented. You check your work before it goes out the door
  • Reliable and punctual. We don't chase people down to show up.
Schedule
Full-time, daytime hours. Your schedule will flex with our delivery and install calendar, but expect consistent, steady work.
Room to Grow
This is a ground floor opportunity with a growing company. The right person will have room to take on more responsibility as we scale. We reward people who show up and own the work.
Cabinet IQ Charlotte is an equal opportunity employer.
