Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and services for Powerbrace Corporation. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, this role focuses on executing the procurement lifecycle, maintaining inventory optimization through MRP planning, negotiating with suppliers, and collaborating closely with internal QA and operations teams.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • High school diploma required (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management is a plus).
  • 1 to 3 years of purchasing experience, preferably within an industrial products firm or manufacturing environment.
  • Required knowledge of MRP/ERP planning systems (Epicor ERP/Vantage preferred). High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with vendors and internal teams.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret data, run inventory reports, and facilitate critical decision-making.
  • Team-focused demeanor with a proactive approach to resolving supplier delays and inventory discrepancies.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills to manage multiple vendor timelines simultaneously.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute the purchasing of raw materials, components, services, and MRO supplies.
  • Place purchase orders with vendors and monitor all open orders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Review MRP reports on a regular basis, plan orders accordingly, and maintain inventory at designated levels.
  • Verify vendor invoices, handle material transfers, and update/maintain supplier pricing and information in the system.
  • Negotiate competitive prices and lead times with suppliers for material and component purchases.
  • Conduct research to keep abreast of market trends regarding product availability.
  • Assist with Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) systems for coordinated MRO purchasing.
  • Notify affected internal departments immediately regarding any shipment delays or changing lead times.
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to provide necessary documentation.
  • Perform as a critical backup for receiving materials when required.
