JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Procurement Buyer

Reports to: Director of Procurement
Position Summary:
The Purchasing Buyer Representative is responsible for forecasting and purchasing merchandise or commodities for Insco branches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Search and evaluate good suppliers on multiple criteria such as price, quality, service support, availability, reliability, selection, etc.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability, reliability, and selection variety.
  • Examine catalogs, industry and company publications, trade journals, commerce publications and directories in order to find the right suppliers.
  • Prioritizes and manages forecasting load/purchase order creation to meet various schedules and objectives.
  • Ensure transactions are managed in a seamless process from order entry through invoice payment.
  • Utilizes practices such as quote analysis, negotiation, and partnering to ensure maximum value for expenditures.
  • Evaluates competitive quotations and negotiates agreements that achieve the lowest cost for materials balanced against optimum quantity, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain awareness or current market conditions, new products, and supply sources for assigned commodities, new technologies, and methods that enhance the value of the purchasing process.
  • Recommend suggested changes to management and internal customers.
  • Confers with suppliers to determine factors that affect prices and availability and perform market analysis as needed.
  • Supports other departments within the company
  • Exhibits accuracy and thoroughness when purchasing product.
  • Establishing foreign and domestic suppliers as needed.
  • Respond promptly to branch needs and feedback to improve service.
  • Studying sales records and inventory levels.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • General knowledge of procurement and material inventory
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite software, specifically proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. Skilled in Epicor Prophet 21, and DSX forecasting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent mathematical skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentages, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume,
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • APICS CPIM preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC parts/products and components. Minimum of 3 years of working MRP experience.
  • Familiar with HVAC vendors and suppliers.
Physical Demands:
  • Required to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit/stand up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
  • May be subject to sitting for long periods of time to perform job scope.
Work Environment:
  • Location of position: Corporate Headquarters
  • Background checks and drug tests required
  • Work will generally be performed in an office environment.
  • May be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
  • May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule
