Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Buyer I to be based out of Cartersville, GA. Reporting to the Production Control Manager, this person will be responsible for driving the advancement of supply chain processes and the daily activities of our material replenishment systems to meet customer demands. This role will lead the tactical efforts towards the achievement of the Strategic Plan objectives, with a strong emphasis on cost reduction. The Buyer I is the plant’s subject matter expert who will facilitate supplier and product qualifications. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States continuously for the duration of employment without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

What you'll do:

  • Support on-time customer delivery and meet inventory turn objectives.
  • Solicits competitive proposals, evaluates RFQs, prepares sourcing recommendations, creates purchase orders, facilitates changes and expedites POs.
  • Reconciles pending invoices and updates master file records as needed.
  • Takes ownership and actively maintains proper order processing, inclusive of DoA, GL accuracy, and data entry.
  • Participates in strategic sourcing decisions to achieve corporate goals and objectives.
  • Outlines MRO purchasing activities for execution by the team.
  • Resolve issues by performing a root cause analysis and implement a solution/preventative action plan.
  • Collaborates and maintains open communication channels with plant personnel/departments including Quality, Logistics, Finance, and Manufacturing to obtain the best pricings, quality, service and delivery.
  • Develop and monitor standard costs for raw materials.
  • Streamlines processes, improves raw material cycle times, and oversees supplier managed inventories.
  • Manages Ad hoc projects and reports to support the development and implementation of MRP systems; manage the databases associated with the procurement modules.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a business discipline or combination of experience and education.
  • <1 year procurement experience required.
  • Procurement/Supply Chain negotiating experience in an industrial environment required.
  • Proficient with MS OS and general purchasing software solutions. Experience with JDE/Oracle strongly preferred.
  • Experience with inventory control programs and a working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Strong practical skills within a Lean manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in time and project management.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete immersion process at Atkore.
  • Have basic understanding of physical construction of our products, MRP program, BOM structures, purchasing system, work order system, JDE etc.

Within 6 months, you'll:

  • Run MRP and place orders for STANDARD stock and non-stock orders with little support (PO’s will still be reviewed by DOA, non-standard items will require more time).

Within 12 months, you'll:

  • Establish RFQ system, develop new suppliers, quantify $ saved on a monthly / quarterly basis by negotiating better deals, developing alternate suppliers, and performing buy make analysis.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $52,240 - $71,830. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
