Job description

Initial salary placement for instructors in the non-vocational areas will be established according to degrees and accumulated units. Initial salary placement for vocational instructors will be based on a combination of education and work-related experience. Associate Faculty Vacancies Disciplines that are actively being recruited for now are listed below.

For all other associate faculty positions, such as non-instructional associate faculty positions, please refer to the job descriptions on the Part-time Faculty Association represents part-time Associate Faculty (PFA) Collective Bargaining Ag... (Appendix G: Pages 73-93). Applications for all other disciplines will be kept on file, and depending on departmental need, will be forwarded to the appropriate department chair upon their request

Currently accepting associate applications for: Learning Resource Specialist Associate Faculty Applications will remain active for one (1) year from the submission date, and after a year a new application will be required to ensure continued interest in teaching opportunities. This application pool is a passive pool intended to identify qualified applicants interested in teaching on a part-time, temporary, semester-by-semester basis. You must identify the discipline(s) in which you're seeking to be minimally qualified for on the application.

Associate Faculty may teach no more than a maximum load of 33.5% per primary term. Representative Duties Associate Faculty Instructor Job Description The following duties are representative of the duties normally required of a part-time Butte College instructor. Certain duties are common to the everyday operational needs of the College while other activities may be required on an as needed basis

All of the duties, however, are common requirements at various times for full-time instructional positions. The associate instructional faculty member is responsible for the following: I. Teaching and Instruction Teaches assigned courses at the days, times, and locations listed on the college schedule of classes.

Provides organized delivery of instruction. Demonstrates appropriate mastery of subject matter and uses effective teaching practices. Is courteous to and approachable by students.

Develops instructional content and lesson plans consistent with the requirements of the Course Outline of Record, including, but not limited to course content and learning outcomes. Communicates clear course expectations through a syllabus, including standards for assignments and grading that adhere to college, state, and federal requirements. Provides clear, timely, and fair student feedback.

Grades and returns student assignments and tests in a reasonable period of time. Maintains accurate student rosters and submits final grades on time. Records and submits student learning outcomes assessments.

Orders instructional materials, supplies, and textbooks within the timelines established by the college. Coordinates with Department Chair to synchronize course contents and methods with other faculty in the program/discipline as needed. II.

Other Responsibilities Abides by College policies and procedures. Meets deadlines for adds, drops, census rosters, grade submission, and all other instructional-related tasks with specific timelines for completion. Exercises good judgment in the use of and/or management of facilities, equipment and supplies.

Attends required meetings. Works well with peers, classified staff, and administration. For all other associate faculty positions, such as non-instructional associate faculty positions, please refer to the job descriptions on the Part-time Faculty Association (PFA) Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) (Appendix G: Pages 73-93).

Please ensure the letter(s) note whether the experience was full-time or part-time.

For part-time experience please be sure the letter(s) include the number of hours per week worked. Bachelor's degree or higher - Attach letter(s) verifying 2 years of related full-time work experience. Associate degree - Attach letter(s) verifying 6 years of related full-time work experience.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and must agree to undergo and pass a pre-employment physical examination, based on the physical requirements of the position, prior to employment. The physician will be selected and paid for by the District. Disabilities not related to the essential physical job requirements will not preclude the applicant from being hired.

Education Code 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that they are free of active tuberculosis. The District reserves the right to modify, rescind or re-advertise this announcement without notification or to delay indefinitely the employment of a person for the position.
