The Business Unit Leader will exemplify Tharp and Boulder Mills' brand through positive customer relationships, superior functional designs, and flawless execution while growing sales and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage Business Unit operations to support sales through execution of order design, drafting, delivery, and installation.
  • Direct leadership for Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Installation personnel.
  • Determine and assess the need for escalation involvement as necessary during the project cycle.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to key departmental stakeholders and executive management regularly.
  • Develop and manage KPI’s to measure team capacity, productivity, profitability, and quality.
  • Help develop Tharp processes and follow current processes.
  • Manage team profit and loss.
  • Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to customer relationships and project success.
  • Develop best practices and tools for future project executions and management.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to the appropriate personnel by setting scope expectations, outlining deadlines, and following up to confirm deadlines are met with quality results.
  • Team building by driving positive culture, implementing process, and mentoring personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Construction Management or related field experience.
  • Five years in a General Construction management and leadership role with direct reports.
  • Two years of direct work experience in a project management or construction management capacity.
  • P&L Experience of $6M plus preferred.
  • Proven experience working independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience managing construction projects relating to finishing trades a plus.
  • Solid working knowledge of the construction/general contracting sector of business.
  • Building, coaching, and motivating a team.

  • Adapt to ever-changing priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and root cause countermeasure capabilities. Adept at driving issues to the root cause for corrective action.
  • Manage risk through analytical decision-making.
  • Be flexible and change ready.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders within and outside of the company.
  • Coach, mentor, and grow team members to work as a team.
  • Have the ability to diffuse high-pressure issues and conversations.
  • Have the ability to read, understand, and make decisions based on profit and loss statements.
  • Have the ability to effectively read architectural drawings and company documentation.
  • Have strong Written and oral communication skills.
  • Have a strong knowledge of computer systems and technology.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively execute in a high-pressure environment.

Licenses Needed: Colorado Driver’s license and a driving record that meets Tharp’s Requirements
