Scope:

The Change Management Specialist works with internal groups to develop and deliver change strategies and supporting content that enable impacted stakeholders to successfully transition from their current state to a future state. This role supports both new project implementations and the ongoing sustainment, enhancement, and optimization of existing 1GX operations and functionalities.

Reporting to the Manager, 1GX Business Excellence – Communications, OCM, and Training, this position is responsible for the development and implementation of change management and communication deliverables that drive effective adoption, sustained use, and continuous improvement of the 1GX solution across the Government of Alberta.

The Change Management Specialist works with internal groups and creates strategies and content to effectively manage change deliverables that will enable impacted stakeholders to successfully transition from their current state to the future state. Reporting to the Reporting to the Manager, 1GX Business Excellence - Communications, OCM, and Training, this position is responsible for development and implementation of change management and communication activities and deliverables

Duties: This is the standard description of services – revise as needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with project sponsors, project teams, operational teams, vendors, cross-functional teams, and 1GX Change Network to ensure all project activities are completed.
  • Collaborate with Program Manager in the development of project schedule plans and strategies, estimate resource requirements, develop and monitor work plans for completion of project tasks.
  • Assist with risk management and issues management
  • Build and deliver presentations relating to change management for various levels of the organization (Executive, Branch, etc.).
  • Plan and facilitate meetings with management and other stakeholders as required.
  • Conduct stakeholder identification and stakeholder analysis
  • Assess and manage key stakeholders.
  • Conduct gap analysis, change impact analysis.
  • Develop and implement effective change strategies and plans.
  • Develop and implement effective communication plans.
  • Develop communication materials.
  • Develop and implement resistance management plans.
  • Ensure information is communicated to impacted audiences throughout the duration of the project/program.
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress.
  • Identify risks and issues relating to change management functions.
  • Conduct business and stakeholder readiness assessments.
  • Proactively engage and lead relevant stakeholder engagement in support of ongoing 1GX adoption and sustainment.
  • Provide specialized advice and support to ensure the consistent and effective application of change management methodology, tools, and approaches.
  • Leverage approved digital, collaboration, and AI‑enabled tools, where appropriate, to support change analysis, content development, stakeholder engagement, communications, and reporting activities, in alignment with Government of Alberta policies and standards.
  • Ensure new technology solutions or applications are rolled out successfully and in a sustainable way.
  • Writing compelling copy to create engaging communications.
  • Understand the role of communication in change management - working to reposition organizational change and end user needs and expectations.
