Job description

Business Analyst

Coastal is looking for a Business Analyst to help support our continued growth. The Business Analyst partners with clients and internal delivery teams to understand business objectives, gather and document requirements, and translate business needs into scalable technology solutions. This role is responsible for facilitating discovery sessions, documenting business processes, defining functional requirements, creating user stories, and supporting solution design, testing, and implementation. The Business Analyst collaborates closely with Solution Architects, Developers, Project Managers, and client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery while identifying opportunities to improve business processes and drive organizational value. This individual demonstrates strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills and is able to independently manage workstreams, support client engagements, and contribute to the successful delivery of digital transformation initiatives.

Please note: this position will require regular onsite work (Tuesday-Thursday) at our client's location in Hartford, CT.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements for digital transformation initiatives.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and requirements-gathering meetings to understand current-state processes and define future-state solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional specifications for delivery teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Developers, Project Managers, and QA teams to ensure solutions align with business objectives and requirements.
  • Lead business process analysis and identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and organizational efficiency.
  • Support Agile delivery methodologies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, user story prioritization, and sprint reviews.
  • Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test scenario development, defect tracking, and stakeholder signoff.
  • Analyze data, metrics, and business processes to provide actionable insights and recommendations to clients and project teams.
  • Maintain project documentation, including business requirements documents (BRDs), process maps, gap analyses, decision logs, and training materials.
  • Support organizational change management activities, including end-user training, communications, and adoption planning.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing strategic recommendations that align technology solutions with business outcomes.
  • Participate in pre-sales activities, solution demonstrations, estimations, and proposal development as needed.
Experience/Skills Required:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Consultant, or similar client-facing consulting role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading requirements gathering, process mapping, and business process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and user story development.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and presenting to executive and operational stakeholders.
  • Ability to document complex business processes and translate business requirements into actionable technical deliverables.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
  • Experience using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Lucidchart, Visio, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations as required.
  • Must have full-time permanent US work authorization.
Additional Preferred Experience/Skills:
  • Experience supporting Salesforce Health Cloud or Life Sciences Cloud implementations
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in consulting or professional services organizations.
  • Experience supporting Salesforce, CRM, Data, AI, or Cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification, Business Analyst certification, CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar credentials preferred.
  • Experience within one or more industries including Healthcare & Life Sciences, Public Sector, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Technology Media and Telecom, COnsumer Business Services,, Nonprofit, or Higher Education.
