Job description

About the Role

We're looking for an intern who already has real hands-on experience with AI tools like Claude and Gemini and is excited to put that experience to work on real business problems. You'll join our G&A team, partnering with People Ops, IT, Finance, and Accounting to spot repetitive, manual processes and turn them into AI-assisted or fully automated workflows.

This is a hands-on role from day one - you'll be embedded with real teams, solving real problems, and helping move active projects across the finish line. It's a great fit for a business-minded student who wants experience at the intersection of AI, operations, and process improvement, and who wants to see their work actually put to use.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with G&A, People Ops, IT, and Accounting to identify and develop AI automated solutions to support daily operations.
  • Design, build, and pilot AI-powered workflows and tools using Claude, Gemini, and other AI platforms.
  • Help move existing AI and operations projects forward - from research and prototyping to testing and rollout.
  • Document new processes and create simple guides or playbooks so teams can adopt and maintain the tools you build.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders across departments, test proposed solutions, and iterate based on feedback.
  • Track the impact of your work - time saved, errors reduced, processes streamlined - and report results to G&A leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Take on ad hoc business operations projects and tasks as priorities shift across the G&A function.
What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise using AI tools such as Claude and Gemini to complete work - research, writing, workflow design, data tasks, and more.
  • Able to speak concretely about how you've used AI tools to solve a real problem, not just that you've experimented with them.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree; Juniors, Seniors, and graduate students are all encouraged to apply.
  • Business-related majors preferred (e.g., Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Accounting) - but strong candidates from other majors with genuine AI expertise are welcome.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a resourceful mindset and comfort learning new software quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally with stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage several small projects at once.
  • Able to work independently while knowing when to loop in your manager or stakeholders.
  • University of Montana students preferred; students at other schools are welcome to apply as long as they can reliably commute to and from work in person at our Missoula office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework or project experience in business process improvement, data analytics, or operations.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), APIs, and automation platforms such as Zapier or Power Automate
  • Solid Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
  • Prior internship or work experience in HR, IT, or Accounting functions.
Internship Details
  • Duration: Fall 2026 term, with the possibility of extending into spring based on performance and team need.
  • Location: On-site at Submittable's Missoula, MT headquarters. University of Montana students preferred; open to students at other schools who can commute in.
  • Compensation: $16-$18/hour, based on experience.
  • Schedule flexibility available around class schedules.
  • Direct mentorship from Submittable's IT & Operations Manager and exposure to leaders across G&A, HR, IT, and Accounting.
  • The chance to work on real AI initiatives with direct, visible business impact.
