Operations Manager
Job Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of warehouse, yard, or production areas. This role ensures operational efficiency, effective workforce management, and logistical coordination while upholding CLGโ€™s standards for safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction. The Operations Manager leads a team to execute daily plans, manage resources, and collaborate across departments to meet business goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Operations amp; Logistics
  • Plan and execute daily operational work schedules and labor plans.
  • Coordinate transportation for all inbound/outbound freight (including OTR and port moves).
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and operational materials.
  • Ensure proper usage, maintenance, and allocation of warehouse equipment.
  • Participate in hands-on operations as needed (e.g., forklift operation, loading/unloading).
  • Owning inventory control and accuracy using 3PL WMS platforms โ€” receiving, put-away, cycle counting, lot/location tracking, and reconciliation against client records
  • Managing shipping and receiving functions โ€” dock scheduling, load/unload coordination, order verification, and documentation accuracy
Leadership amp; Workforce Management
  • Supervise warehouse teams and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
  • Approve timecards, monitor attendance, and adjust schedules as needed.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to ensure operational success.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and deliver coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with HR on employee development, retention, and succession planning.
  • Manage conflict resolution and disciplinary actions professionally and fairly.
Customer Support amp; Coordination
  • Partner with Sales and Industrial Engineering to support quoting, onboarding, and new business implementations.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and internal teams to meet service requirements.
  • Ensure a seamless flow of information between operations and client-facing functions.
Continuous Improvement amp; Compliance
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Maintain and enforce SOPs; support the development of new procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Track and report on operational KPIs and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or other related area.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics and warehousing environments.
  • Proven experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of cargo yard operations, warehousing, and transportation logistics.
  • Experience in workforce planning, scheduling, and labor management.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery. (Certification preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick and effective decisions.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to effectively coordinate with teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50โ€“75 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in indoor/outdoor environments.
  • Willingness to operate warehouse equipment when required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in inventory management/control in a 3PL environment, with hands-on WMS proficiency for accuracy, cycle counting, and shrinkage reduction
  • Proven ability to manage shipping and receiving in a high-volume 3PL warehouse
Work Schedule:
  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Flexibility for overtime, weekends, or adjusted shifts as business needs require.
  • Occasional travel
