Job description

Position Summary
Carlyle is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Business Intelligence & Analytics Lead to join the Global Technology & Solutions team. This role combines deep expertise in business intelligence, data architecture, and analytics with strong business acumen to deliver strategic insights, modern reporting capabilities, and scalable technology solutions for the Client Solutions Group. The individual will serve as the hands-on technical lead for business intelligence, driving data-driven decision-making through enterprise reporting, analytics, and the evolution of the Client Solutions Group data platform. The successful candidate should understand how modern AI technologies can enhance business intelligence, analytics, and software development workflows, applying AI where it creates measurable business value.
In-Office Requirements: 4 days per week in-office
Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable business intelligence solutions, data models, reporting platforms, and automation capabilities that support the strategic objectives of the Client Solutions Group.
  • Business Intelligence Strategy: Define and execute the Client Solutions Group Business Intelligence roadmap, including reporting strategy, KPI frameworks, semantic models, data architecture, and self-service analytics capabilities.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Build and maintain advanced dashboards and real-time visualizations that track key performance indicators (KPIs), including investor engagement, fundraising activity, and revenue growth. Provide data-driven insights to guide strategy and optimize outreach.
  • Business Intelligence: Design and evolve the Client Solutions Group business intelligence ecosystem by integrating internal data, third-party datasets, and market intelligence into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
  • AI-Enabled Business Intelligence: Identify opportunities to apply generative AI across reporting, analytics, research, and development workflows. Leverage tools such as Hebbia, AlphaSense, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and similar technologies to improve engineering productivity, automate repetitive workflows, and enhance business intelligence capabilities.
  • Business Partnership: Partner closely with the Client Solutions Group stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable business intelligence solutions, dashboards, reports, and reusable analytics that improve fundraising, investor engagement, and decision-making.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Analyze market trends, client interactions, and competitive benchmarks to deliver valuable insights that help guide sales strategies, optimize outreach, and improve client targeting. Provide real-time data to the sales leadership, helping them make informed decisions to drive revenue growth, enhance investor relationships, and prioritize opportunities for business development globally.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams from Client Solutions Group, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and Investment teams to ensure data flow and solution integration, ensuring the seamless delivery of strategic projects.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership across business intelligence architecture, data governance, automation, AI adoption, and platform scalability to support Client Solutions Group.
  • Industry Expertise: Maintain a deep understanding of the alternatives and private investing landscape, continuously updating knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and investor expectations to stay ahead of market developments.
  • Hands-On Execution: Act as the go-to technical person for the Global Head of Client Business, act as the primary technical resource for the Client Solutions Group, delivering reporting, dashboards, analytics, and reusable BI solutions that address recurring business needs.

Requirements
Education & Certificates
  • Bachelor's Degree, required
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Business, or a related field, preferred

Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of overall relevant experience, required
  • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Enterprise Analytics, or Data Platform roles, preferably within financial services, private equity, or investor relations.
  • Experience designing enterprise reporting platforms, data warehouses, semantic models, and self-service analytics solutions.
  • Experience leveraging AI technologies to improve analytics, reporting, or software development workflows is highly desirable.

Competencies & Attributes
  • Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in SQL, Power BI, Python, data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred). Strong knowledge of business intelligence architecture, data warehousing, semantic models, automation, and system integration.
  • AI & Modern Development: Working knowledge of generative AI, AI-assisted development, and modern productivity tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Hebbia, AlphaSense), with the ability to identify practical opportunities to improve analytics, engineering productivity, and business processes.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated understanding of private equity, alternative investments, and investor relations with a proven ability to link technical solutions to business strategies.
  • Analytical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving skills with a track record of using data to derive insights and drive decision-making.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business strategies for senior leadership.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead projects and collaborate across diverse teams, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York and considers a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $180,000 to $200,000.
In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
