Arlington County Government's Economic Development (AED) Department is seeking a part-time Business Intelligence Intern to support business research, development, communications, and events within the Business Investment Group's (BIG) portfolio.
Responsibilities
Major Job Duties:
  • Conducting research on companies, industries, emerging technologies, innovation ecosystems, accelerators, investors, and partner organizations aligned with Arlington's business attraction priorities;
  • Developing and maintaining target company lists, structured datasets, and research summaries to support business development strategies, lead generation, outreach, attraction, and Arlington Tech Launchpad programming;
  • Supporting communications activities for Arlington Tech Launchpad and related business development initiatives, including drafting social media content, newsletters, educational resources, and other communications materials;
  • Assisting with planning, coordinating, and executing meetings, events, and ecosystem engagement activities, including preparing presentations, briefing materials, agendas, registrations, and other event materials;
  • Supporting event logistics, stakeholder communications, post-event follow-up, and engagement activities involving companies, entrepreneurs, investors, and regional ecosystem partners;
  • Maintaining and updating company, stakeholder, and contact records in Salesforce and other management systems, including logging contacts and tracking business development and outreach activities;
  • Compiling reports, outreach summaries, engagement metrics, and stakeholder information to support evaluation of event participants and identification of high-priority companies and contacts for future engagement; and
  • Providing administrative and operational support to the Business Investment Group, including conducting ad hoc research, assisting with scheduling and internal coordination, and supporting special projects.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and organized individual with strong research, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. They are able to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and demonstrate an interest in entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, and economic development. A multicultural mindset and interest in working with diverse innovation and business communities are also valued.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of at least two years (60 semester hours) in a Bachelor's degree program; and
  • No professional-level work experience (less than one year) in the internship field.

Desirable Qualifications: Preference may be given to applicants with a 3.0 GPA or higher and one or more of the following:
  • Pursuing or having completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, International Affairs, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; and/or
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, Salesforce/CRM platforms, or digital communication tools.

Additional Information
