Job description

We are seeking a motivated Business Data Analyst with handson experience in business intelligence, data modeling, and a strong interest in process automation within the Microsoft ecosystem. The successful candidate will support endtoend report development, from requirements gathering and data preparation to report design, deployment, and ongoing enhancement, using Power BI and other Power Platform and Microsoft 365 tools.

Under the general direction of the Reporting to the Manager of Data and Analytics, the Business Data Analyst will maintain and improve existing BI solutions while contributing to new initiatives that support accurate and timely reporting for internal and external stakeholders. The Business Data Analyst will work closely with cross functional teams and executives, leveraging strong communication and analytical skills to translate business needs into scalable, reliable data solutions, while using automation to enhance and optimize reporting and business processes.

What You Will Do
  • Support full lifecycle report development, including requirements gathering, data modeling, ETL, visualization, and deployment.
  • Design and maintain datasets, data models, and data extractions to support reporting needs across assigned business scopes and stakeholder groups.
  • Build and maintain Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards using data modeling best practices.
  • Use Power Automate to streamline data refreshes, automate business processes, and optimize reporting workflows.
  • Connect to and manage data sources including SharePoint Lists and libraries, SQL databases, REST APIs, etc.
  • Identify data quality issues in source systems, collaborate with stakeholders to resolve them, and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with crossfunctional teams to translate business needs into technical specifications and reporting solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation covering reports, datasets, ETL pipelines, data models, automations, and business processes to support longterm sustainability and team knowledge retention.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on system optimization, automation, and reporting efficiency, including the adoption and integration of AIdriven tools.
  • Follow and promote AFL’s environmental, health, and safety policies.
What You Bring
  • Handson experience developing Power BI solutions (Desktop & Service) in a production or enterprise environment.
  • Experience in DAX, data modeling, and BI development workflows.
  • Experience using SharePoint as a data source (Lists, document libraries, folder connectors).
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in learning Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to data accuracy, including the ability to normalize inconsistent client data for analyticsready ingestion.
  • Excellent communication skills for gathering business requirements and explaining technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
  • Selfdriven, curious, and eager to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Process efficiency mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve existing workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Platform tools to support automation, workflow improvement, or data integration.
  • Experience developing Copilot agents using the Microsoft 365 Copilot app and Copilot Studio.
  • Background or domain experience in Telecommunications or Construction.

  • General hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Some travel may be required
