Job description

The Business Intelligence and Systems Analyst supports various company categories and business functions across the Fuel & Energy Business by ensuring the proper reporting and data are available for internal users. This role involves extensive collaboration with internal customers and the IT team to provide comprehensive data analysis and reporting solutions. The Analyst will act as a point of contact for reporting needs, develop reporting tools, and create data models to identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement. The Business Intelligence and Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in driving the business forward through meticulous data analysis and reporting, ensuring that internal customers have access to accurate and actionable data.

What You'll Do

  • Provide research and reporting support to internal customers, including financial analysis, data analysis, trend identification, and monitoring and summarizing the progress of tests and promotions.

  • Create reporting tools to identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement. Use data from various sources in reporting to drive the business forward in areas such as retail pricing, wholesale analysis, fuel accounting, etc.

  • Fulfill ad hoc requests for reports determining fuel trends, fuel grade testing, exception reporting analysis, etc.

  • Assess current company reporting processes and provide recommendations for new methods to enhance reporting and analytics for internal customers.

  • Work with the Business Intelligence team on reporting and data efficiency, ensuring Power BI dashboards are up and refreshing appropriately for all business units supported.

  • If reports are down, work with IT to get reports functioning appropriately.

  • Collaborate with multiple business groups to gather requirements for requested reports and dashboards. This includes Retail Fuel Pricing, Gulf, Silver Comet, B2B Sales, RaceWay, Legal, and Energy Dispatch.

  • Meet with IT members to locate, understand, and consume tables needed to create the requested reports and dashboards. Make recommendations to IT on different storage methodologies for data based on use cases. Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on the data to understand its quirks for creating fit-for-purpose report data models.

  • Using the located data, curate it for a fit-for-purpose report data model, including the creation of datasets, dataflows, data lakehouse storage objects, and other data models. Consume the data model into a data analysis tool, such as Power BI, and build the appropriate business calculations and visuals according to gathered requirements.

  • Work with business units to UAT the report/dashboard to identify and resolve any issues.

  • Complete all documentation around reports and maintain organized storage for all report/dashboard files.

  • Work with vendors to obtain better/more accurate data files.

  • Communicate with leadership and stakeholders on report/dashboard findings, development status, issues, and plans to resolve issues.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Math, Computer Science, Statistics or related field preferred

  • 0-2 years’ experience as a systems analyst, database analyst / developer, or business analyst preferred

  • Experience performing business analysis or financial/statistical data in a retail environment preferred

  • Knowledge of SQL, SAS, SPSS, Microsoft Fabric and other Business Intelligence software preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI

  • Knowledge of syndicated data like IRI and Nielsen is a plus

  • Knowledge of Codex, Agent Bricks, Databricks Genie is preferred
