Job description

Job Summary
Works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems, including nurses, physicians, ancillary staff, management, and information systems analysts. Responsible for coordinating aspects of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical information systems. Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the Information systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice. Consults with and assists users in making the most effective use of computer applications through training, file maintenance, testing, system monitoring, and problem resolution. Prepare status reports that quantitatively and qualitatively inform of project progress and results. Recommends software solutions based on user requirements. Generates and analyzes documents, charts and/ or diagrams of business problems to be programmed or addressed via systems acquisitions. Assists in developing project cost and benefit estimates to establish project worth, including the development of alternative considerations leading to recommendations for new systems or systems changes. Assist in developing departmental policies and standards related to use of systems and software.
Qualifications
4 year / Bachelor's Degree; In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience is acceptable (Required)

Work Experience
1 - 2 years Experience in Clinical Informatics. (Preferred)
1 - 2 years Change management experience. (Preferred)
1 - 2 years Experience with large-scale education roll out. (Preferred)
1 - 2 years Experience in implementing and/or upgrading a clinical application in a healthcare setting. (Preferred)
3 - 4 years Clinical Experience (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
Required Certifications/Licensures: RN, RT, PT/OT or Current Georgia Licensure in a healthcare-related field, Clinical Informaticist Certification

Essential Functions
Documents and submits required information and data in a timely fashion.
Collaborates with teams to develop policies and procedures pertaining to use of clinical information systems.
Maintains knowledge of standards of accreditation agencies and incorporates same into clinical information systems design standards.
Maintains membership on, or consultation to, appropriate committees, work groups or task forces as needed to facilitate the ongoing process of the design, implementation and revision of automated and manual components of the clinical information system.
Conducts meetings and presentations effectively and professionally. Maintains membership on, or consultation to, appropriate committees, work groups or task forces as needed to facilitate the ongoing process of the design, implementation and revision of automated and manual components of the clinical information system.
Conducts meetings and presentations effectively and professionally. Initiates, maintains and communicates action plans regarding system implementation and support to appropriate members of hospital staff.
Develops and participates in structured training courses for new system upgrades and collaborations with clinical users.
Maintains open and active communication with clinical staff and consultants.
Facilitates communications between clinical staff and consultants.
Communicates complex concepts and issues effectively (written and oral) across all levels within the organization.
Facilitates problem solving within and between departments.
Participates in developing mechanisms for soliciting ongoing feedback from users.
Responds and follows up with staff concerns in a timely manner.
Initiates, maintains and communicates action plans regarding system implementation and support to appropriate members of hospital staff.
Maintains a broad knowledge of hardware, operating systems, applications, operational analysis and protocols
Maintains a current knowledge of: Trends and issues in health care, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, JC AHO standards, Organizational policies and procedures related to clinical practice and the legal implications of the clinical information system, Clinical applications currently in use and their relationship to other organizational information systems and Structure and hierarchy of the organization
Maintains knowledge of security and data integrity issues related to the clinical information system
Directs and participates in computer training and orientation activities for current and new personnel, students and physicians.
Additional Duties
Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current Knowledge in present areas of responsibility to include any specialty certification requirements (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
