For over 50 years, North West Rubber has been a leading manufacturer of recycled rubber flooring solutions throughout North America and globally. Now present in over 50 countries, NWR has expanded its manufacturing and sales and marketing leadership across multiple industry sectors including Ice Rink, Sports Complex, Recreational Farming, Playground, Industrial, Trailer, Home Fitness, Truck & Trailer, Equine, Beef and Dairy. 

Today, North West Rubber is one of the largest rubber mat manufacturers in the world. We own and operate manufacturing facilities in Canada (British Columbia, Ontario, & Quebec), in the USA (Texas), and in China.  


We are actively recruiting for a Business Development Manager.  The successful incumbent is responsible for driving the growth and market presence of North West Rubber flooring solutions by increasing brand awareness, influencing key decision-makers, and developing strategic relationships across the flooring and construction industry. This role focuses on creating demand for North West Rubber products through specification-driven selling, contractor engagement, market intelligence gathering, and the development of new business opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Grow Brand Awareness
    • Promote North West Rubber flooring products within target markets to increase visibility, recognition, and preference among industry stakeholders.
    • Position North West Rubber as a trusted partner and industry leader through consistent engagement and market presence.
  • Influence Specifiers and Decision Makers
    • Establish and maintain relationships with architects, designers, consultants, facility managers, end users, and other specification influencers.
    • Drive product specifications and approvals by demonstrating the value, performance, and benefits of North West Rubber solutions.
  • Develop and Maintain Contractor Relationships
    • Build strong relationships with flooring contractors and installers to create a loyal and knowledgeable labour network.
    • Support contractor partners with product information, project opportunities, and ongoing engagement to encourage long-term advocacy and preference for North West Rubber products.
  • Conduct Product Education and Training
    • Deliver product knowledge sessions, presentations, and training workshops to contractors, distributors, architects, designers, and other key stakeholders involved in product selection.
    • Ensure market participants understand product features, applications, installation requirements, and competitive advantages.
  • Gather Market Intelligence
    • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer needs, pricing dynamics, and market tolerance.
    • Provide actionable insights to support strategic planning, product positioning, and business growth initiatives.
  • Generate New Business Opportunities
    • Prospect and identify new project opportunities across commercial, institutional, recreational, and specialty flooring segments.
    • Develop and leverage opportunities in collaboration with distribution partners, contractors, and other channel partners to maximize market penetration and revenue growth.
  • Support Sales and Growth Objectives
    • Maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities and actively contribute to achieving regional sales targets.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • The ideal candidate is a relationship-focused business development professional that brings 5+ years of experience in a B2B or channel sales role with a preference for candidates with flooring experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or related discipline
  • Demonstrated networking, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels
  • Previous experience owning/leading a region showing year over year growth
  • Must be comfortable understanding market dynamics, identifying growth opportunities, and translating customer needs into successful business outcomes
