This role focuses on cultivating strong client relationships, expanding market presence, and aligning business development strategies with the firm’s design vision and growth objectives. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, and a passion for architecture and the built environment.

The Business Development Manager collaborates closely with principals, project teams, and marketing staff to drive pipeline development, manage client outreach, and position the firm for success across targeted market sectors.

What you will be doing:
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to generate new leads, nurture client relationships, and secure new project opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and identify potential clients, partners, and project pursuits aligned with the firm’s expertise and growth goals.
  • Coordinate and participate in client meetings, networking events, conferences, and industry functions to foster connections and visibility.
  • Collaborate with principals and marketing teams to prepare proposals, RFQs/RFPs, presentations, and interview materials.
  • Maintain CRM systems and lead tracking processes, ensuring accurate reporting on opportunities and relationship development activities.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, project announcements, competitor activities, and regional market dynamics.
  • Lead strategic outreach initiatives including targeted email campaigns, client appreciation efforts, and content-driven engagement.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration between business development, marketing, and project delivery teams.
  • Monitor and report on business development metrics and provide insights to leadership on progress toward revenue and growth targets.
What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years of business development experience, preferably within architecture, engineering, construction, or other professional services.
  • Strong understanding of architectural services, client types (public, private, institutional), and procurement processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g. Deltek Vantagepoint, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Interest or background in architecture, design, or the built environment preferred.
