Job Description

Position Summary & Objective

The Business Development Manager-Aluminum is a market and customer development specialist focused on the aluminum manufacturing and processing industry.  The ASM is responsible for driving strategic growth initiatives within the aluminum industry, supporting Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), and ensuring the company's services and capabilities align with market needs.

This role blends market research, strategic sales development, content creation, and customer engagement to accelerate our penetration of the aluminum market. The VSM acts as a subject matter expert and internal champion for the aluminum industry.

 Industry Development

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify key players, trends, challenges, and opportunities in the aluminum industry.
  • Develop strategic sales and marketing plans tailored to the unique needs and buying behaviors of the aluminum industry.
  • Monitor competitors and market shifts to keep our value proposition sharp and differentiated.

Sales Strategy & Support

  • Collaborate with RSMs to identify target accounts within their territories.
  • Support RSMs in customer outreach, opportunity development, and proposal strategies.
  • Attend customer meetings and site visits (in-person or virtual) as the industry expert alongside RSMs.
  • Lead efforts to qualify and pursue large or strategic accounts in the aluminum industry.

Collateral & Content Development

  • Develop aluminum-specific sales tools, presentations, case studies, white papers, and proposal templates.
  • Customize our core offerings to speak directly to the aluminum industry's operational, maintenance, and reliability challenges.
  • Train RSMs and other commercial team members on best practices, value drivers, and common objections in the aluminum industry.

Cross-functional Alignment

  • Act as the voice of the customer for the aluminum industry by providing feedback to operations, engineering, and marketing.
  • Work with service and technical teams to develop new offerings or refine existing ones based on aluminum demand.
  • Support trade shows, industry events, and marketing campaigns as a subject matter expert and brand ambassador.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep familiarity with the aluminum industry vertical, including customer needs, operational pain points, and industry terminology.
  • Proven ability to develop go-to-market strategies and execute multi-touch sales campaigns.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver executive-level presentations.
  • Self-starter with strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Required Education and Experience

  • 7 to 10 years of sales, business development, or account management experience in industrial services, MRO, or heavy equipment industries.
  • Technical background (engineering, maintenance, or operations) in the aluminum industry.
  • Experience working in or selling project-based or capital-intensive industrial environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
