What does a business development executive do when working remotely?

A Business Development Executive working remotely is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and driving revenue growth for the company from a remote location. They conduct market research, reach out to potential clients via email or calls, negotiate deals, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure client satisfaction. Remote work allows them to use digital tools for communication, presentations, and tracking progress, making it possible to manage their responsibilities without being physically present in an office.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a business development executive remote?

To thrive as a Business Development Executive (Remote), you need strong sales acumen, market research abilities, and a background in business or related fields, often supported by a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with CRM software like Salesforce, lead generation tools, and digital communication platforms is typically required. Outstanding communication, self-motivation, and relationship-building skills help you excel in a remote, client-facing environment. These skills and qualities are critical for driving revenue growth, building strategic partnerships, and effectively managing sales pipelines from a distance.

How do business development executives working remotely typically collaborate with sales and marketing teams?

Remote Business Development Executives often rely on digital collaboration tools like CRM systems, video conferencing, and instant messaging platforms to stay connected with sales and marketing teams. THE COMPANY & CULTURE

Our client was founded in 2006; the company is in a scale-up phase, with company-wide revenue having nearly doubled year over year. Headquartered in Richmond Hill, Ontario, they import and distribute composite reinforcement materials and process consumables, holding exclusive North American sales rights for an overseas composites manufacturer. They also distribute window and door hardware, aluminum coil, and related building materials, though this role sells composite materials only.

Their customers are manufacturers across Canada and the United States in the automotive, aerospace, construction, electrical, and machinery sectors, concentrated in Ontario and Eastern Canada.

The culture is built on trust, respect, and teamwork. Leadership is delegation-based — responsibility is assigned to the person best suited to the role, and the owner adjusts his approach as the business grows. The company values focus, prioritization, and a willingness to learn.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY

  • •   Head office: Richmond Hill, Ontario
  • •   Work arrangement: Remote / home-based, with flexible hours.

Qualifying backgrounds are: (a) sales of composite materials such as carbon fibre, glass fibre, aramid or basalt reinforcements and vacuum bagging consumables, or (b) sales of thermoset resins, gel coats or chemical matrix systems used in composite manufacturing.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

  • •   Lower overhead than the large national distributors, supporting more competitive pricing

  • •   Exclusive North American sales rights for an overseas composites manufacturer

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES
