Job description

Position: Business Development Manager
Summary: Business Development Manager for Green Summit Landscape Management finds and secures new maintenance accounts to achieve sales goal. A Business Development Manager is compensated with a base salary and earns monthly commissions for maintenance contract sales along with enhancement/irrigation sales.
Reports to: Director of Sales and Business Development
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develops a target list of potential clients from many different business segments. Actively contacts these potential clients and builds relationships in order to qualify business opportunities with them. Builds and maintains relationships with key decision makers (i.e., Community Managers).
  2. Responds to Request for Proposals (RFPs). Asks questions about client’s requirements. Coordinates with operations, design, and other sales team members as needed to fulfill these request and requirements.
  3. Prepares marketing materials as needed along with presentations for client meetings, tradeshows, industry events, and conferences. Joins professional networking associations and attends events when possible (i.e., Chamber of Commerce). Creates LinkedIn account and profile to connect with all potential clients and interacts as needed.
  4. Meets or exceeds maintenance contract sales goal by providing proposals proactively and by-request from the clients. A monthly commission for maintenance sales is provided
  5. Along with maintenance sales, meets or exceeds enhancement/irrigation sales goal by providing proposals proactively and by-request from the clients. A monthly commission for enhancement and irrigation sales is provided.
  6. Obtains quantities/takeoffs for maintenance estimating. Using the Green Summit Maintenance Estimator, enters the required quantities to estimate maintenance accounts, and writes them up using the Maintenance Proposal Template.
  7. Obtains quantities/takeoffs for enhancement/irrigation estimating. Using the Green Summit Enhancement Estimator or Unit Pricing Spreadsheet, enters the required quantities to estimate enhancements and irrigation repairs, writes them up using the QuickBooks Enhancement Proposal Template.
  8. Maintains a relationship with key clients and follows up as needed. Creates Work Orders through the TRIMM app for irrigation repairs, clean ups, and spray to resolve problems for key clients.
  9. Obtains resources for finding and developing new business relationships (i.e., Book of List, Business publications). Plans time to make calls or visits to potential clients as needed.
  10. Attends weekly Enhancement Scheduling and Sales meeting. Reports any new sales updates at this meeting and ensures that sold enhancements are added to the production schedule.
  11. Secures a signed contract of an awarded maintenance account. Fills out and turns in a New Maintenance Start-up Packet to the Bookkeeper when a maintenance account is awarded. Creates a detailed property service map that is included with each maintenance account sold.
  12. Attends the daily huddle meeting with the operations team if needed to ensure a swift hand-off of new maintenance accounts.
  13. Schedules a hand-off meeting with the new maintenance account client and Account Manager. Hands off relationship to the Account Manager and ensures good account information and direction is given. Makes sure the new customer knows who their Account Manager is and provides contact information.
  14. Adds new account to the Bell Curve, Start/End Date List, and Contact List.
  15. Obtains and reads professional publications and attends educational opportunities when possible.
  16. Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: 4-year College degree or equivalent is required. Business and/or Landscape Management Degree is preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Windows 10 and earlier editions and latest editions in Microsoft Office applications; typing speed a minimum 65 wpm.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
