Are you a strategic thinker who enjoys turning big ideas into real projects? As a Business Development Manager – Intrastate Pipelines, you’ll lead the development of large‑scale pipeline projects that connect major industrial customers, power generators, and manufacturers to natural gas infrastructure.

This is a high‑visibility, end‑to‑end role where you’ll shape growth strategy, influence investment decisions, and bring complex energy projects to life—from concept through construction.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll lead pipeline development initiatives that directly support company growth and customer needs.

Key responsibilities include:

Originate & Grow Opportunities

  • Identify and develop new large‑scale pipeline projects
  • Build relationships with industrial customers, developers, and pipeline partners
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of growth opportunities across the region

Lead Projects from Concept to Construction

  • Own full project lifecycle: scope, permitting, financials, and risk planning
  • Guide projects through approval, funding, and execution
  • Partner with engineering and construction teams while maintaining business ownership 

Structure Deals & Contracts

  • Support commercial negotiations (interconnects, transportation agreements, term sheets
  • Collaborate with Legal, Regulatory, and Finance to ensure strong agreements
  • Balance customer needs with risk management and return on investment

Build Business Cases & Financial Strategy

  • Develop investment cases, financial models, and ROI analysis
  • Evaluate risks, costs, and long‑term value of projects
  • Present recommendations to leadership for approval 

Navigate Regulatory & Market Environment

  • Support strategy related to Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) requirements
  • Ensure compliance with tariffs, regulations, and industry standards
  • Stay informed on market trends and energy dynamics

Lead Through Influence

  • Partner cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, Legal, Finance, and Regulatory teams
  • Lead project teams and external partners without direct authority
  • Provide clear updates, reporting, and insights to leadership

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Science, Math or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development or project management/development
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience building relationships and identifying new business opportunities
  • Knowledge of energy markets or infrastructure development fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience carrying out business development activities in the energy industry.
  • Greenfield natural gas pipeline development (origination through execution) with demonstratable experience delivering positive outcomes.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements
  • Experience working with a regulated utility
  • MBA or advanced degree

What to Expect

  • Office and field hybrid role

Incident Response Assignment

Our community relies on Peoples Gas to respond swiftly and effectively to all types of incidents, including but not limited to major storm events (e.g., extreme cold, tropical storms, hurricanes), gas leaks, equipment failures, environmental hazards, and other emergencies that may impact public safety or service continuity.

Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents. As a Team Member of Peoples Gas, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive training related to your role, and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating various emergency scenarios
