Job description

Position: Business Development Associate

Supervisor: VP of Finance & Corporate Development


Position Summary

The Business Development Associate works closely with leadership to support commercial growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and supporting strategic initiatives. The role works closely with the VP of Finance and Corporate Development to coordinate day-to-day departmental priorities.

Responsibilities

●      Research and identify prospective clients, partners, and market opportunities

●      Conduct professional outreach by email, telephone, and LinkedIn

●      Help schedule and prepare for prospective client meetings

●      Maintain organized records of leads, opportunities, communications, and follow-up activities

●      Assist with proposals, presentations, pricing materials, and client correspondence

●      Coordinate follow-ups with prospective and existing clients

●      Coordinate conference participation and logistics, including registrations, promotional collateral, scheduling, and other event-related needs

●      Track sales pipeline activity, upcoming decisions, and contract-renewal opportunities

●      Participate in selected client meetings and business-development calls

*All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

●      Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, marketing, communications, or a related field

●      5 years of relevant professional experience

●      Strong written and verbal communication skills

●      Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

●      Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets

●      Ability to research unfamiliar industries, organizations, and business opportunities

●      Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

●      Willingness to learn financial systems, business-development processes, and technical subject matter

●      Familiarity with Xero, LinkedIn, Webflow, or similar business platforms preferred

●      Experience preparing presentations, financial models, proposals, or professional correspondence preferred

●      Knowledge of healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or laboratory services preferred

Work Environment:

●      This position is full-time on-site in New Haven, CT

●      Approximately 15-20% of time traveling
