The Role

Perseus is growing the Business Development team within our M&A group. The role is to build strong strategic business relationships that lead to the sourcing of current and future M&A opportunities for Perseus. Relationships will be formed with decision makers (i.e.CEOs/VPs of Corporate Development/founders/owners) of software companies globally, M&A advisors, and private equity/venture capital professionals. Success is defined by building andmaintainingmeaningful relationships, having clients sign LOI's,and ultimately, theacquisition of software companies/assets by Perseus/Constellation.


Initiating relationships,maintainingrelationships, andultimately beingconsidered and chosen to beacquiredby Perseus/Constellation typically takes multiple years. Measurable outcomes, continuous value-add through many M&A conversations/relationships and high-quality market researchiswhatultimately generatessuccessful acquisitions through time.

For posting purposes this role is titled M&A Business Development Associate, however, the internal working title for this role will be Manager, Corporate Development.


Outcomes:

  • Develop and manage an M&A pipeline through Salesforce CRM and create market maps to build strong relationships in assigned software industry vertical(s)

  • Meet and exceed monthly M&A targets, such as meaningful contacts and other measurable M&AsourcingKPIs.

  • Work both autonomously and with M&A leadership to qualify M&A opportunities with efficiency

  • Ensure the lead database isallocatedaccurately within portfolio verticals

  • Effectively qualify opportunities at thetop-endof the acquisition funnel tomaintainfocus for the Portfolio Managers of the business units.

  • Have a meaningful impact on the Perseus Group over a successful tenure in-role

Relevant Experience & Competencies:

  • At least 3+ years of experience in a Business Development/Sales position at a software company or client-facing M&A/finance role within business development, sales, and/or account management. Preference for experience in outbound-focused origination roles.

  • A clear interest in developing a long-term pipeline of meaningful relationships with prospects as a career trajectory within softwareinvesting.

  • Previoushigh performance in Business Development, success in an autonomous role, or prior success in other areasoutside professional BD experience, such as entrepreneurship, will be considered.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, withthe confidenceand executive presence to speak with CEOs, M&A advisors, corporate development, privateequity,and venture capital professionals.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work variable hours.

  • Extraordinary work ethic, proactive with a sense of urgency.

  • Experience with Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable.

  • This role will require occasional in-person travel andwill beperformedfromaHybrid office in Toronto, ON.

Salary Range (Ontario & BC Only):

The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD$72,000.00 - CAD$88,000.00 per year.
