Job description

$55,000-$60,000 annually | Muncie & East Central Indiana
Build relationships. Develop partnerships. Grow our reach.
Home Instead is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to grow our referral network and expand our presence throughout Muncie and the surrounding communities.
This is a field-based, relationship-driven sales role for someone who knows how to turn consistent outreach into measurable business growth. You'll develop relationships with hospitals, physicians, skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, assisted living communities, home health, hospice, and other healthcare and community partners.
We're looking for someone who can confidently own a territory and pipeline, identify new opportunities, build relationships with decision-makers, and follow those relationships from first contact through referral.
This isn't a sit-behind-a-desk sales position. You'll be out in the community building a network, representing Home Instead, and creating partnerships that connect local seniors and families with the care they need.
You'll be a strong fit if you
  • Have proven experience in business development, outside sales, account management, healthcare marketing, referral development, or a similar growth-focused role
  • Have a track record of working toward measurable sales, census, referral, revenue, or growth goals
  • Know how to build and maintain professional B2B or referral relationships
  • Are comfortable prospecting through face-to-face outreach, cold calling, networking, email, and community events
  • Can manage a territory, pipeline, and follow-up activity independently
  • Are persistent and understand that strong referral relationships are built through consistent follow-through
  • Can confidently represent an organization with professionals, community leaders, and groups
  • Are organized, self-directed, and comfortable being accountable for measurable results

Healthcare, senior care, home health, hospice, skilled nursing, or related industry experience is strongly preferred. Proven B2B business development experience in another industry will also be considered.
What you'll be doing
  • Develop new referral relationships throughout Muncie and the surrounding territory
  • Grow and maintain relationships with hospitals, physicians, home health agencies, assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, hospice providers, senior organizations, and other community partners
  • Identify and pursue new business and referral opportunities
  • Conduct face-to-face prospecting, cold calls, follow-up visits, presentations, networking, and community outreach
  • Manage an active pipeline of prospects and referral partners
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sales activity, follow-up, opportunities, and results
  • Work toward established weekly and monthly inquiry, referral, and growth goals
  • Develop sales and marketing strategies in partnership with Home Instead leadership
  • Represent Home Instead at networking events, community programs, meetings, and presentations
  • Maintain and strengthen existing referral relationships while continually developing new ones
  • Report progress, successes, challenges, and opportunities directly to the General Manager

What success looks like
Success in this role means more than being visible in the community. You'll be expected to turn relationship-building into measurable growth.
You'll know you're succeeding when you are:
  • Consistently developing new referral relationships
  • Generating qualified inquiries and new client opportunities
  • Building a strong, active network of healthcare and community partners
  • Maintaining an organized pipeline with consistent follow-up
  • Meeting established business development goals
  • Becoming a trusted and recognizable Home Instead resource throughout the community

What we offer
  • $55,000-$60,000 annual salary, based on experience
  • Paid time off
  • Paid sick time
  • Medical MEC and supplemental indemnity plan options
  • A high level of independence and ownership over your territory
  • Direct access to company leadership and the opportunity to contribute to growth strategy
  • A relationship-focused role where your work directly helps connect local seniors and families with care

Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Previous business development, sales, marketing, account management, referral development, or comparable experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable using CRM, sales tracking, and common business technology
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Professional presentation and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend community events as needed
